Transition Important Dates and Events 2020
Additional Transition Visits:
The purpose of these days are for students that require additional support for Transition, giving them an authentic experience to engage at school. These additional days provide students with the opportunity to transition into their future year level with a focus on relationship building and experiencing the subjects they have selected during the subject counselling process. Students for these sessions have been identified by Whyalla High and Stuart High School staff.
Transition Full Day Visits – Term 3
Thursday Week 4 – Whyalla High
Thursday Week 6 – Whyalla High
Thursday Week 7 – Whyalla High
Thursday Week 8 – Stuart High
Thursday Week 10 – Specialist Programs
Purpose – Students from Whyalla High and Stuart High having an authentic experience of senior secondary schooling and what it is like to be a Year 11 student. Students will come to EJEHS in their Care Groups from their middle school.
Transition Skills – Ongoing Thursday mornings
Purpose – The Transition skills program has been developed to assist students with their transition through and beyond their time at Edward John Eyre High School. Students are in their year level and houses, undertaking a range of activities that will run for the duration of the year.
- Money, budgeting and taxes
- Budget cooking
- Wellbeing (art based)
- Stem skills (including problem solving, collaboration, changing a tyre and tying a tie)
- Life skills (which included ironing garments, learning how to sew a button and hems)
- Healthy living
- Team based HPE activities/Group Dynamics and Interoception
- Embracing the f (failure) word (activities around wellbeing).
- A range of activites with a foucs on Resilience.
Week 6, term 4
The purpose of Head Start is to have students proactively prepare and be exposed to their subjects for the upcoming year. Head Start provides students with the opportunity to work with their teachers in preparation for the year ahead.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, week 9, term 4.
The purpose of the Transition days is to provide students with the opportunity to transition into their future year level with a focus on teaching and learning, relationship building and establishing a positive school culture.
Monday to Wednesday will be a focus on teaching and learning. Thursday will be a focus on wellbeing, relationship and teambuilding and house activities.
