**Stage 1 Essential Mathematics A & B **

Essential Mathematics teaches students a range of mathematical skills with real-world applications, from data manipulation to measurement and planning. Students will become numerate citizens capable of making sense of the world around them.

**Stage 1 General Mathematics A & B**

General Mathematics gives students the opportunity to consolidate their computational and algebraic skills and expand on their ability to reason and analyse mathematically. This is done through applications of Mathematics such as personal finance management, statistical investigations and mathematical modelling. Students will study three of a possible six topics per semester. These include: investing and borrowing, measurement, statistical investigation, applications of trigonometry, linear and exponential functions and their graphs, and matrices and networks.

**Stage 1 Mathematics A **

Students will cover the Mathematical topics of functions and graphs, polynomials and trigonometry. Each topic consists of a number of subtopics where real world applications and the use of technology will be incorporated.

**Stage 1 Mathematics B**

Students will cover the Mathematical topics of arithmetic and geometric sequences and series, geometry and vectors in the plane. Each topic consists of a number of subtopics where real world applications and the use of technology will be incorporated.

**Stage 1 Mathematics C**

Students will cover the Mathematical topics of counting and statistics, growth and decay and introduction to differential calculus. Each topic consists of a number of subtopics where real world applications and the use of technology will be incorporated.

**Stage 1 Specialist Mathematics D **

Students will cover the Mathematical topics of trigonometry, matrices, and real and complex numbers. Each topic consists of a number of subtopics where real world applications and the use of technology will be incorporated.

**Stage 2 Mathematical Applications **

Students will cover the Mathematical topics of applied geometry, matrices, statistics and working with data, and investments and loans. Each topic consists of a number of subtopics. A problem-based approach by students will be integral to the development of the Mathematical models and associated key ideas in each topic. Real world applications and the use of technology will be incorporated throughout the subject.

**Stage 2 Mathematical Studies **

Students will cover the Mathematical topics of working with functions and graphs using calculus, working with linear equations and matrices and working with statistics. Each topic consists of a number of subtopics. A problem-based approach by students will be integral to the development of the Mathematical models and associated key ideas in each topic. Real world applications and the use of technology will be incorporated throughout the subject.

**Stage 2 Specialist Mathematics**

Students will cover the Mathematical topics of trigonometric preliminaries, polynomials and complex numbers, vectors and geometry, calculus, and differential equations. Each topic consists of a number of subtopics. A problem-based approach by students will be integral to the development of the Mathematical models and associated key ideas in each topic.
