Emma Ainsworth has achieved the highest raw ATAR results at Edward John Eyre High School with 97.4, achieving a Merit in English. With the addition of her adjustment factors she has achieved the highest possible ATAR of 99.95 with guaranteed entry to her tertiary course of choice. Emma has said she is super grateful for her senior year experience, and describes her final year of secondary education:
“I was lucky enough to be able to undertake subjects that I was passionate about, with teachers that were also just as passionate, as well as just being generally great people of whom I have become very close with!
I’m especially grateful for my parents and my family, who never put any pressure on me and just told me to go with my own flow, but do it at 100%. There were many nights where I fell asleep surrounded by textbooks, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way – I love study, which is crazy to some, but I love learning and pushing myself to that next level with my knowledge!
My friends, cohort and I have all been through the stages of high school together, which really shone through by the way we all banded together in most classes and supported each other throughout the stressors and successes of the year.
I don’t have a highlight of 2019, because I honestly enjoyed every moment of it, including the good and the bad; I’m a firm believer of learning from your lesser experiences to grow and become better.
I’d describe myself as a very dedicated and self-driven student that sets high standards for myself, but celebrates anyone else’s achievements no matter how big or small. This year I made a deal with myself to enjoy it, and make sure that I allowed myself to have an outlet from school! Sports helped me with this, as well as allowing myself to have some fun on the weekends…
I’m off to Adelaide very soon, about 3 weeks, to take on the city and fulfil my dream of studying at the beautiful University of Adelaide. It’s all happened very fast, but I have a job and accommodation ready waiting for me!
For now, the plan is a double degree, with a Bachelor of Secondary Teaching and a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biology and Psychology, but knowing me, this could change once I get there!”
Edward John Eyre High School congratulates Emma on her commitment to learning, outstanding achievements and determination in her senior secondary schooling.
