As a part of the CHAT program, students have run a weekly café for staff, students and crèche visitors. Students were involved in all aspects of running a busy café, including food preparation, serving customers, making coffees and money handling. To celebrate the end of the café program, students created their own dishes and held a morning tea for staff from EJEHS and visitors from the Whyalla Secondary College to thank them for their ongoing support.
Through running the café, students developed their industry knowledge and applied this to their practical assessments. This included the implementation of technology in the kitchen and sustainable practices when running a café. Students developed their teamwork and communication skills in a busy kitchen environment and were able to work together during busy service periods to produce dishes of a high standard.
The students should be extremely proud of their achievements and hard work this year.
