Edward John Eyre High School Governing Council Annual General Meeting
We warmly welcome our new and continuing students and their families to the Edward John Eyre High School community in 2020.Parent participation is an important factor in community building and of tremendous benefit to the educational outcomes and welfare of our students. As a parent/caregiver, you can assist with this by becoming a member of Governing Council (GC) and/or one of its subcommittees. Our volunteers are valued and have the opportunity to provide positive examples to our students through their contribution to the school.
The AGM is a short meeting where the annual report is presented to the school community and the election of new GC members takes place. There will be some vacancies due to retiring members on both the GC and subcommittees. You are welcome and encouraged to attend the AGM even if you do not intend to nominate.Governing Council meetings are held twice per term. Experience and expertise is not required, just an interest in education and the school community as training will be provided. The time commitment for GC members is approximately 4 hours per term.
The Governing Council subcommittees are finance, curriculum, canteen and grounds/assets/facilities. These committees meet once per term. Members of any of these committees may be but do not have to be Governing Council members. The time commitment for subcommittee members is approximately 1 hour per term.
If you would like to have a say in the future direction of the school, be involved in the decision and policy making process and be active in the school community that your child attends please consider becoming a member of Governing Council and/or a subcommittee.
If you are unable to attend the AGM but wish to nominate for a position, please tender your apology and forward your completed nomination form to the school front office prior to the AGM.
